Our management systems are regularly audited
by our key clients and our own internal review process. This
ensures we are able to maintain the highest standards in all
our business operations.
Safety
The company recognises the importance of effective
management of Health and Safety as a means of ensuring the
success of the business. Therefore the ethos of the company
is actively committed to complying with legislation to achieve
the highest standards so far as reasonably practicable.
This ethos of safety management is based on risk assessment
and control, and is promulgated throughout all of the Company’s
activities. Through compliance with the safety management
system, the Company will at all times conduct its undertaking
with due regard to the Health and Safety of its Employees
and others who might be affected by its activities.
An example of this is that Global Rail Construction empowers
their work force to ensure that a work safe procedure is always
adhered to in addition to site specific requirements.
Regular briefings including Tool box talks and familiarisation
courses are given to ensure that the safety requirements are
understood and complied to.
Environment
Global Rail Construction takes full recognition
of the need to care for the environment and operates an environmental
policy in keeping with the objectives of the Local Authorities
in whose area the business is being conducted. This includes
a programme of continuous improvement and the prevention of
activities that impact on the environment.
All employees are made aware of the following specific policy
items:
• Seek to reduce and eliminate waste, where possible,
by more efficient utilisation of materials by encouraging
an ethos of reduction, reuse and recycling.
• Care in use of vehicles and economic use of fuels
both in vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
• Use of funnels and drip trays when refuelling /decanting
products which could contaminate the environment and that
relevant spill kits are available should a spillage occur.
• Full observance of COSHH, particularly in relation
to the environment.
• Correct management of wastes and disposal in approved
local sites.
• Care must be taken when carrying out activities that
could impact on wildlife for example conservation areas, badger
sets, nesting birds, protected trees and hedgerows.
• When working in residential areas during the night,
noise must be kept to a minimum and lighting must not be pointed
directly into residential properties.
• The company is libel to prosecution if activities
undertaken by Global Rail Construction Limited are found to
impact the environment
All employees are aware and briefed on the company policies.
