GRCL is committed to maintaining and enhancing the environment by implementing, maintaining and improving an Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the requirements of ISO 14001 and supports the ethos of the business.

We take our responsibilities to the environment extremely seriously and operate an environmental policy that incorporates a programme of continuous improvement and the prevention of activities that impact on the environment.

Ensuring we are aware of developments in legal and other regulatory requirements is essential in the construction and rail sector, and forms a key part of our policies. The Register of Environmental Legislation details the environmental requirements relevant to GRCL.

We undertake a review of all our activities to identify the environmental aspects and impacts of the organisation. The results of this are documented in an Impact register. The aspects, impact on the environment, the level of significance and mitigation must be addressed as a priority by the company’s environmental management system.

An Impact Register is produced for each project where we undertake the site management responsibility the company designated Impact Register is used otherwise.

The company sets environmental objectives and targets based upon the findings of the Environmental Review and identification of environmental aspects. Objectives and targets are set out in the company’s management plan, and are reviewed at Management meetings, and at Management Reviews.

Environmental Management plans
The company produces project Environmental Management plans that detail site or location specific information and outline any constraints or methods of working that have been identified either as a result of survey, or as an implementation of good practice.

The requirements of the plan are implemented by all personnel and subcontractors in order to execute projects in a manner, which minimises any negative environmental impact and disruption to local residents and businesses. The plan contains information relating to both normal working arrangements and emergency provisions to be in place to ensure that compliance with environmental legislation is maintained. Our employees are made aware of their responsibilities in accordance with the environment as part of the company training awareness programme.
The Environmental Management System complies with BS EN ISO 14001 and is third party Certificated by NQA (UKAS Accredited).

The system is also Link - up Supplier Registered and Qualified.
